Description
Hand-operated apple parer; hand-cranked fork and knife holder mounted on rectangular board; separate knife with long, cylindrical wooden handle; board nailed to the top of a box-like base on one end of a wooden bench supported at each end by a pair of slightly splayed legs joined by a stretcher.
Marks/Inscription
typewritten: on tag attached to object: "Four legged parers / are the oldest and / rarest. Being both / bulky and fragile / they quickly, had to / make way for first, / the more compact / straddle board paper / which was soon follow- / ed by table attached / wooden and iron ones."
