According to 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles (Franklin 22), two versions of this four-legged pitter were manufactured. The first, as seen above, was based on the original patent by H. Buckwalter of Kimberton, Pennsylvania in November of 1863. It was later improved by William Weaver of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in May of 1866. The newer model has wingnuts that attach the legs to the body.
