This 130-page recipe was apparently written by a 17th-century member of the Losh family of Cumbria. The exact author is unknown but James Losh (1762-1833) was a former owner. The recipes are written in one uniform 17th-century hand and are listed in an index at the end of the volume. In addition to culinary and medical recipes, there are also several recipes for inks and paints.
