Description
This volume is written in a repurposed salesman's sample book that advertised a salacious book titled The Women of New York; or, The under-world of a great city. All of the leaves containing copy about the published book have been ripped out, leaving only the blank subscription leaves, which the author has covered with recipes, mostly handwritten but a few clipped from newspapers and pasted on. The recipes include East India pickle, cucumber catsup, and tip top cakes. At the back of the volume is a newspaper clipping of the unveiling of the statue of Stonewall Jackson in Richmond, Virginia, in 1875.
