Description
This English recipe book was compiled by E. Walker and N. Walker, from Belper, Derbyshire, England, between 1837 and 1915. Pages 1-146 of the book contain 203 culinary recipes written in two different hands. One of these hands significantly predates the other. Pages 147-172 are blank. Pages 173-184 contain household and medical recipes written almost entirely in the earlier hand of the culinary section. The culinary recipes include buns for tea (page 4), blackberry wine (page 13), to pot salmon (page 24), a dish of snow (page 29), Buckingham pudding (page 49), Damson cheese (page 61), calves feet jelly (page 71), coffee biscuits (page 91), Bath buns (page 95), Bakewell pudding (page 111), and Christmas pudding (page 142). The volume includes several loose recipes, tucked between the pages, as well as a family photograph printed on a postcard by Harold Burkinshaw.
