This English collection of 127 recipes is entirely in the hand of E. Carratt, who began her book in 1845. The 160-page volume contains culinary recipes on pages 2-123 and household and medical recipes on pages 154-168. (Pages 124-153 are blank.) Several recipes are written in German (pages 2-3, 21-23, 26-28, and 31-33). The culinary recipes include horseradish sauce (page 17), mushrooms in vinegar (page 29), oyster sausages (page 53), Bachelor’s pudding (page 59), Caledonian cream (page 62), to roast partridges (page 95), Fricandellan (frikandel) (page 99), College pudding (page 111), Sally Lunn buns (page 120), and Yorkshire pudding (page 122).
