This recipe and account book is part of the library's collection of the Drake-Satterfield Family Papers. The book may have been compiled in the family of Elijah Steele Drake (b. 1841) and his wife Ellen Turpin. E.S. Drake attended Centenary College, which his father, Dr. Benjamin M. Drake, founded; served in the Confederate States Army; established Phoenix Academy at Fayette, Mississippi, after the war; and in 1867 began his practice of law in Port Gibson, Mississippi. He and his wife had five children.
