Description
This three-volume manuscript was completed by Seth Youngs Wells around 1846. It contains various sorts of health advice as well as recipes. Seth Youngs Wells (1767-1847) began his professional life as a teacher in Albany, New York. Around 1800, he joined the Shaker community, first at Watervliet, New York, then in New Lebanon, New York, where he died. He is said to have convinced his parents and all nine of his siblings also to become Shakers. In addition to "Temperance," he wrote several religious works that were later published.

The three volumes are located in Box 27 of the collection and are identified as Item 313-315.
