This 19th century English collection of culinary and medical recipes was written by Georgietta Charlotte Thursby. The author compiled her recipes in her former French exercise book, whose marbled-paper cover is engraved with a label bearing the handwritten title "Lettres Francaises." She cut away the original pages, leaving only stubs, to which she glued some of the recipes. Other recipes she merely loosely inserted into the book. There are around 30 pages of recipes altogether, written on a variety of slips of paper. The food and drink recipes include: Mr. Wood's Grandmama's Ginger Wine, Orange Wine, Fancy Biscuits, Venice Cakes, Rich Plumb Cake, Madeira, and various curries.
