Description
This recipe book is part of the library's collection of the Livingston family papers. The book is organized in Series III of the collection, which contains the Herman and Emeline Hopkins Livingston papers. Herman Livingston (1856-1936), a mine operator and investor, was married  to Emeline Cornell Hopkins (1859-1940). The recipe record states that the recipe book contains "Hopkins and New Bedford entries," suggesting that it was partly compiled by Emeline Livingston's grandmother, Emeline Cornell (1816-1854), who was a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and by Emeline Livingston's mother, Mary Elizabeth Hopkins (1833-1887). Since the library dates the book 1850-ca. 1890s, an individual living beyond the life dates of either of these women must also have contributed to the book.
