Description

The library's collection of the Silliman family papers includes recipe books that were compiled within the Silliman family or their circle. The bulk of the collection concerns Benjamin Silliman (1779-1864) and his son Benjamin Silliman, Jr. (1816-1885), both of whom were pioneering scientists and science educators at Yale University. The recipe books are undated, but given the life dates of the two primary figures in the collection, it is likely that one or more of the books was compiled before 1865.
