Description

This English recipe book of approximately 150 written pages was compiled by a number of different individuals starting around 1776 and continuing into the early 19th century. The text is inverted about halfway through (at digital page 73), for no clearly discernible reason. Most of the recipes in the book address human and animal diseases and the making of practical household products. The few food recipes in the book mostly occur around digital page 50. However, the book is nonetheless of interest to culinary researchers because it contains a number of inventories of silverware, plates, linens, and household furnishings on digital pages 136-148. These inventories, which contain dates between 1776 and 1799, and are written in at least three different hands, possibly belonging to members of an extended family.
