Description
This recipe book is part of the library's collection of the Corlis-Respess Family Papers. John Corlis (1767-1839) brought his family to Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 1816, where he farmed and opened a distillery. The recipe book may have been compiled by one of his children, perhaps his daughter Susan, who married William Respess. The book includes recipes for Rich Small Cake[s], Jumbles, Crullers, and Measure Cake that are characteristic of mid-1800s baking.
