Description
This 62-page recipe book was compiled by two family members, Mrs. A. H. Dunkin and Mrs. B. F. Dunkin, of Charleston, South Carolina. The book contains 86 recipes, divided in two sections. A section headed "Cookery Book" is written from the front of the volume. A section headed "Confectionary" is written from the back of the volume and upside down in relation to the front. The "Cookery Book" section is mostly meats and vegetables recipes and the "Confectionary" section is mainly desserts and baking recipes. Recipes include chicken pie with oysters and chestnuts, jugged hare or rabbit, Baltimore breakfast rolls, calf's head stewed turtle fashion, York biscuit, Federal cake, Liberty cake, carrot pudding, and Indian pudding.
