Description
This 94-page book contains accounts at the front and recipes at the back. The account book records James Campbell's payments on accounts (103 total receipts) to various people during the years 1832 to 1842. The second half of the volume contains 56 recipes written by unknown authors (three hands evident). Most have attributions to friends, relatives, and other personages such as "Clara," "Mary Shields," and "Friend Gibbon's receipt book." The dishes  outlined include amber pudding, milk soup, oyster salad, and Irish stew. One inserted sheet, dated August 31, 1883, contains recipes for cold tomato catsup and cucumber pickles.

The book is part of the library's Manuscript Recipe Book Collection, 1793-1959. The catalog record contains a link to a useful finding aid.
