Description
This cookbook is part of the library's collection of the Hickman-Bryan papers. The collection primarily concerns the brothers Peter, Thomas, and William Hickman, all of whom were Louisiana planters. Less prominent in the collection are various individuals who married into the Hickman family and resided in Boone County, Missouri, and members of the Bryan family, who were related by marriage to the Missouri Hickmans. The families had business dealings in slaves, agriculture, and livestock. Compiled in the 1850s, the cookbook contains culinary recipes as well as practical recipes for such things as floor wax, indelible ink, candles, dye, and soap.
