Description
This 162-page recipe book was compiled by Margaret Rutson Maury (1764-1830), who became the second wife of James Maury (1746-1840) around 1796, and with whom she had five children. James Maury was appointed the first American consul to Liverpool, England, in 1790 and served in that office until 1829, when he was removed by President Andrew Jackson. Over the years, the couple lived in several houses on Rodney Street, in Liverpool, one of which is shown in the photo gallery.

This cookbook is located in Box 5, Folder 1 of the Maury Family Papers at the library. See also Margaret Rutson Recipe Book, 1833, which is also part of the Maury Family Papers.
