Description
This volume, measuring 14.5 x 9.5 cm, is inscribed on the inside front cover: Noadiah Russell's  Book 1682. Noadiah Russell (1659-1713) made diary entries in leaves 1 through 13 of the book, from January 23, 1682, when he was a tutor at Harvard, through 1684. Recipes, some dated, and a few other notes in several different eighteenth and nineteenth century hands, are written on leaves 14 through 43. The book also contains recipes for soap and blacking on leaves 128-130; Latin aphorisms, probably in the hand of Noadiah Russell, on leaves 144-148; and genealogical notes on leaves 149-150. The rest of the book is blank. A full typescript list of former owners of the book is pasted into the rear of the volume.
