Written in several hands, this English receipt book of approximately 100 pages contains culinary, medical, and household recipes. The library has attributed the book to the Tonks family. The culinary recipes outline wines, puddings, sweetmeats, pickles and catsups, and "frygasys" (fricassees) of various meats. Included is an uncommon recipe for a "solid Gravy which will keep Good an East India voyage." Among the household recipes are several methods for killing rats as well as formulas for inks and cleansers.
