This book is inscribed "Mrs. W. H. Ord's Receipt Book" on the inside front cover. It is written in a single cursive hand. The date 1840 appears at the end of recipe number 95. The book contains 118 numbered and indexed recipes written on 44 leaves. Most of the recipes are culinary, with a few household, medical, and veterinary recipes interspersed. Recipes are attributed to a number of individuals, as well as to "Robert's Cookery."
