Description
This collection is labeled "Housekeeping Receipts M.J.T. Burke, 18[5?]7."  The author is presumed to be Martha Jefferson Trist Burke (1826-1915), a daughter of Virginia Jefferson Trist and a great-granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson. The book contains approximately fifty recipes for food, home remedies, and household items such as glue and ink. Some are handwritten, and others are clipped from printed sources and pasted in.
