Description
This manuscript consists of an account book to which handwritten recipes have been added, starting from the back page of the notebook and going toward the center. The entries in the account book date from 1833 to June 1849, but the recipes must be somewhat later, for some of the dishes outlined, such as cottage pudding and Bavarian cream, did not become known until around 1860. The manuscript likely belonged to a Llewellyn Elsbree who was born in 1850, graduated from Cornell in 1873, and died in 1887, although she may not have been the author of the recipes.

The recipes primarily concern desserts and cakes, including lemon pie, queen's pudding, cottage pudding, Bavarian cream, soda cake, and bread cake. There is also a recipe for catsup, one for green corn griddle cakes, and one for "Mrs. Bradley's pickles."

The book is located in Box 1 of the library's collection of the Anna Elsbree papers.
